“I had been recovering from a long term lower back problem, having tried every therapy possible. I was resigning myself to a life of pain, no golf, aerobics or Zumba – even walking brought problems at times.

“Jon took me in hand, spending the first three months rebuilding the strength in my back. He introduced me to exercises that concentrated on core strength and stability, correcting the poor technique I had picked up after years of group classes. Within 3 months I was confidently exercising with absolutely NO PAIN whatsoever. It felt like a miracle.

“… quickly I could see and feel the benefits”

My name is Greg Bettis and up until 3 years ago probably like you was happily playing golf twice a week getting some exercise and fresh air thinking at 54 years old I was doing the right things with my body. I was leading a fairly sedentary lifestyle and one day I was looking at myself in my tucked in golf shirt (rules on the course which you can get away with wearing it out off it!) and thinking I have what is known as a “dad bod”, and to be fair I was tired after 18 holes and puffed out a little on some of the hilly courses.

So I decided to do something about it and after some research found Jon and Dan and have never looked back. I have made some small changes to my lifestyle and incorporated regular sessions with the FOFGC team as part of my weekly routine. They have a varied plan of strength, cardio and flexibility classes suiting all abilities. I had never attended a gym regularly in my life but quickly I could see and feel the benefits. Allied to some diet and nutrition changes, again subtle and tailor made, I have dropped 2 stone in weight but at the same time improved my flexibility, core and strength. I look and feel better in everything I do.

What does that mean for my golf? I have improved my strength and hit the ball further (20 yards on drives easily) – not Bryson deChambeau but still a big difference. My core is stronger giving me a great platform for the golf swing and keeping the lower part of the body stable. My flexibility improvements mean I turn better and can actually turn further. I also am able to not get fatigued at the end of the round when the last few holes can mean so much to a good score or a decisive advantage in match play.

The team of Jon and Dan and their colleagues bring a wealth of knowledge and motivation to the sessions, they are enjoyable and you never feel “oh no it’s the gym again”. there are a whole range of things to try – Stretching work, Pilates, Strength, Cardio – all carried out in a structured planned and effective and fun way. You are in control of your goals and what you want to achieve. Definitely worth a try!
